Rules and Code of Conduct
WELCOME
Hello and welcome to Dragonball Universe! And more importantly, the rules page! The rules here are divided up into sections and categories, and linked in the list below to provide easy navigation. Each section of the rules is put into a separate post and you are provided a link to each section below. Please make sure to read the rules carefully, and also pay attention to the offense table which is the last item linked in the list.
Dragonball U's rules are in place to maintain order and make sure the site is enjoyable and fair for all our members. The staff reserve the right to take disciplinary action if these rules are broken.
1. Respect Eachother :
Do I need to explain more? Nobody is above or below anyone here. Everyone is equal and we hope you will treat each other so. Learn to respect each other and behave well. And by this, I mean treating everyone like your equal and not point out people’s wrongs rudely. In other words, don’t treat people like they are idiots. If you have problems, consult a staff.
2. Respect Staff :
We usually know what we are doing but we are human and can forget or have flaws. However, it is advised to respect us and listen to us. Which means, no rude comments or pointless arguments. Also, remember that we have a life outside the site too. So if we are late in doing things, just try to understand us. You have anything you want to say about a staff? Go to another one or an admin.
3. Be Understanding :
This is important. People are different with different outlooks and different attitudes. Try to be understanding and try not to start fights. Put yourself in the other person’s shoes and think for a bit. Calm yourselves down and just be polite to them.
4. Chatbox :
Chatbox is for interaction and fun. Go crazy since no one is stopping you. But, remember to respect each other and not start fights in the cb. Spamming in the cb is not allowed either. Finally, advertisements are not to be linked in the cb at all.
5. No Godmodding :
Godmodding is in essence when someone’s character practically does anything without limits or boundaries. And example is when they simply cannot be harmed by any and all means other RPers try. Yeah, nobody is a God here. You cannot just not take hits but deal damage to your enemy. So try not to Godmod. Remember, in a good RP fight, it’s always fun when you take hits and deal hits. An one-sided fight is just plain boring.
6. Metagaming :
Metagaming is an "out of character" action where a player's character makes use of knowledge that the player is aware of but that the character is not meant to be aware of. Let’s not do this, people. Use of outside knowledge of the char inside RP is no fun. Wouldn’t you rather have your character experience everything and find things out by him/herself? Metagaming is a definite no go in the RPing world.
7. PG-13 :
This a PG-13 site, people. This means we do not allow sexual or mature threads in our site. If you really want to RP that out, take it to PMs. Nobody has any complaints on that. Cursing and swearing can be allowed as long as it doesn’t get out of hand or too sexual.
8. No Racism :
We are all human beings living in this bright bluish greenish planet called earth. We are equal and and that is why racism is not allowed here. There is no white or black or this country and that country here. We are all people who loves to RP. Nothing more, nothing less.
9. Be Active :
This is very important. We expect our members to be active. Post everyday or even once a week but be active. Also, being inactive for long can result in the removal from important positions and so on.
10. No Harassment :
I think this is an understood rule. Watch your words. Remember that some things you say, even if it’s meant as a joke, can hurt people. And if someone kindly tells you to stop, just stop. Carrying it on will only result in getting punished.
11. Language :
We hope to see good language in here. And by good language, not only do I mean polite wordings but also complete sentences and not so bad grammar. Nobody is asking you to have perfect grammar cause pssh who has that? While RPing, please try not to use text language or the act of shortening your words with a u or r or...oh you get what I mean!
12. Loopholes :
Oh yeah….human nature. We just love finding a way to abuse rules, don’t we? Well, please refrain from doing that here. If you find a loophole, bring it to the attention of staff instead of abusing it. We are a new site and we are just starting out. So there could be places uncovered by us. If a loophole is found and used then you will be warned only once and if you abuse another loophole you will be banned. When a situation like this arises, a moderator or administrator will always have the final say.
12. Joining Threads :
Never join a thread without permission of those in the thread. This can lead to many issues and complications. Some threads may be private threads for a person or people even if it says it is open, so make sure to ask permission before joining a thread.
13. Technique Lists/Plot Pages
Please note that after being accepted your character profile will be locked in the accepted character section. Future learned and added techs as well as wants to add onto history or any form of ending for that matter will need to be kept track of in a technique list and or plot page area. Located HERE.

REGISTRATION/ACCOUNT
01. Please Register your character, and then proceed to create your presentation to receive your starting power level.
02. After registering, please be sure to change your display name to the name of the character you will be playing on the site. You can do this by clicking on profile, modify profile, and it will be the fourth field down. Please do not keep something random like "Ilovekitties" as your username. It will be changed by the staff if it has not been changed after you posted your character application.
03. You may not have one account for multiple characters. Having one account for multiple characters can be very confusing especially when people forget to put the names of their characters in their name somewhere. So to prevent this you must have you characters on separate accounts.

Re: Rules and Code of Conduct
GENERAL
01. First and foremost, no excessive swearing, we don't need your character cussing like a sailor. This is supposed to be a family friendly forum. Profanity is allowed just do not make it ridiculous.
02. Secondly NO bashing on other members because of opinions, ideas, race, gender, sexuality, religion, or anything else that can be brought up. Not abiding by this rule is a serious offense and will warrant an account time-out or a ban. Do NOT discriminate.
03. Absolutely and positively NO BITING THE NEWBIES. This includes, insulting, harassing and making biased reviews on applications. Constructive criticism is allowed. We want to create a friendly atmosphere on the site, so please don’t scare away the new people by being jerks! =P
04. Keep all PG-17 related things out of the forum. If you want to have something of this rating happen in an RP, take it out of the forum and to an Instant messenger or email or something of that nature! Anything else needs to be have a fade to black rule.
05. Absolutely, positively, NO SPAM. Spam is hereby defined By:
The posting of advertisements, abusive, or unneeded messages on Internet forums, which in more gentle terms comes to mean: unrelated, un-useful threads that don't do the forum any good. If you happen to post a thread which does belong somewhere else on the forum, it will be moved by a member of the staff. It is recommended that new members get to know where things are on the forum. Get comfortable! And if there are ever any questions, the staff will be more than willing to answer them!
06. Harassment is against the rules because even if we did not mind, it is against the law, and terms given by proboards. If you believe that you are being harassed, you are to report it to one of the administrators, who will look into the issue. You may play with people, and tease them, but do not go overboard in doing this. Teasing almost crosses the fine lines of harassment and disrespect, so be sure that you know the person. If someone asks you to stop, then stop.

Re: Rules and Code of Conduct
ROLEPLAY
01. No spamming in RP threads, we aim for in character threads that are not cluttered by OOC (Out Of Character or Out Of Context) thoughts. If there must be an OOC post or comment, make sure to use the following symbols ((YOUR TEXT HERE)) or [YOUR TEXT HERE], or at the very least indicate that it is OOC to prevent confusion.
02. Regarding post-length -- Provided you are capable of maintaining a quality, well thought posted, we will not begrudge you based on length. SxS is about stepping outside reality and enjoying yourself. You are not expected nor required to write a novel. Merely type at a length you feel comfortable with, in reason.
03. When in fights, there is to be absolutely no god modding, meta gaming etc. The definitions and examples of these two things are listed below:
"God Modding" is in essence when someone’s character has the ability to do practically anything without limits or boundaries. And example is when they simply cannot be harmed by any and all means other RP-ers try.
-It can be killing or injuring a character without the player's express permission.
-It can be when they simply can’t be hit and dodge all attacks or anything for this matter aimed at them.
-It can also be using other characters that other people RP with. In other words, if you do not RP as
A gang Member, then you cannot have The Gang Member say anything, or do anything, without the player's express permission.
Another RP example of this would be:
Player A: Punches Player B
Player B: Dodges attack, grabs Player A and throws him. Player A flies at Player B, who warps behind him and slashes Player A in the back.
Metagaming is a broad term usually used to define any strategy, action or method used in a game which transcends a prescribed ruleset, uses external factors to affect the game, or goes beyond the supposed limits or environment set by the game. In other words, sometimes using out-of-game information, or resources, to affect one's in-game decisions. In role-playing games, a player is metagaming when they use knowledge that is not available to their character in order to change the way they play their character (usually to give them an advantage within the game), such as knowledge of the mathematical nature of character statistics, or the statistics of a creature that the player is familiar with but the character has never encountered. In general, it refers to any gaps between player knowledge and character knowledge which the player acts upon.
Look at it this way. This is Dragonaball, Not even the “heroes” of the games get out of situations without even a scratch, and Dragonabll is one manga which does not merit “know it alls”. Sure, your character can think they are well prepared, but often times they are entering a situation which they ultimately cannot control.
04. You must have an accepted application before you start RPing in threads. All threads that are posted prematurely will be moved to the archive.
05. Proper grammar and punctuation are to be followed, because that is common sense. We do not want posts lyk tis. Please use spell check, and it is suggested that you type anything up using Microsoft Word, or any equivalent program before posting just to be sure.
06. No 1337 speech. Save chat talk for MSN, AIM, etc. We do not want it in RP posts. You will have to correct it yourself.

Re: Rules and Code of Conduct
CHARACTER
01. You are not allowed in any circumstances to ever have a character that is godlike. Meaning your character can not dodge every attack thrown at them. Or kill in one move. (please see above rules on god modding)
02. Please, for the Staff of this forums sake, NO Mary-sues or Gary Stus. Those terms are defined as follows:
Mary Sue, sometimes shortened simply to Sue, is a pejorative term used to describe a fictional character who plays a major role in the plot and is particularly characterized by overly idealized and clichéd mannerisms, lacking noteworthy flaws, and primarily functioning as wish-fulfillment fantasies for their authors. Perhaps the single underlying feature of all characters described as "Mary Sues" is that they are too ostentatious for the audience's taste, or that the author seems to favor the character too highly. The author may seem to push how exceptional and wonderful the "Mary Sue" character is on his or her audience, sometimes leading the audience to dislike or even resent the character fairly quickly; such a character could be described as an "author's pet".
A male "Mary Sue" is usually referred to as a 'Gary Stu' (or similar masculinized term). References to male characters being a 'Gary Stu' are less common than those to female 'Mary Sues'. They are generally identified as being much cooler, tougher, and sexier than the canon characters. Gary Stus are often shown as the popular, excessively popular, and the jock of every story. Girls in the story will fall over themselves to capture a Gary Stu's attention.
03. The Character limit is as follows:
Allowed Customs: 4
04. When completing your character application, do not bash other races, sexualities, genders, etc. in your character’s personality section. This section is supposed to be for creativity; give your character some depth!
05. Sex-crazed characters are particularly frowned upon. Yeah, Shunsui likes the ladies, but he is not blatantly attempting to have intercourse with everything he sees. Keep the flirting reasonable and REMEMBER to keep anything else OFF of the forum.

01. No Pornographic or extremely offensive material is allowed in your signature, your avatar or your custom title.

03. There are many members that happily create graphics for your characters. Be sure to give them the appropriate credit in your signature if requested. Do not try to pass it off as your own.
CBOX
01. NO disrespect for other members in Cbox. Cbox is for fun banter between members and for new people to drop in and say hi.
02. Keep arguments out of the C-Box, our chat box is a reflection on our very community, that said, the staff would like it to be a good reflection on the community. If you have a disagreement with another member on the C-Box, notify a Moderator or Administrator and the staff will handle it.
03. Discussion above a PG-13 rating which includes explicit subjects such as: Sex, Drugs, Violence, Gang-related material etc. in the Cbox is not allowed. That’s just silly, come on guys. This is a family-friendly site, and if you are caught doing so proper reprimands will be taken.

The Offense --- Punishment Table
This is the offense table where we list infractions of the rules and their ranking and the punishment the member will get if there is an infraction on these rules. Yellow are the least severe, but more common. Orange are medium in severity, and Red are the most severe infractions on the rules. Make sure to read over this table carefully and understand what it means to make an infraction on each level.
Yellow Offenses
Orange Offenses
Red Offenses
Yellow Offenses are Low Ranking offenses that will merit a warning. The other time you will get a yellow offense is if you're a first time offender to an Orange offense.
Orange Offenses are infractions on the rules that are on a higher scale than the yellow offenses. These offenses are for second time offenders or if someone directly disobeys an orange rule.
Red offenses are the most severe offenses and the staff have a Zero-tolerance policy on red-offenses. These are direct infractions of core forum rules.
Yellow Offense Punishments
Punishment can be and is not limited to a PM warning, an account warning or a 24 hour ban from the forum or the C-Box.
Orange Offense Punishments
Punishment for infringing on an orange offense can be but is not limited to: Account warning, 48 hour ban from the forum, or 72 hour ban from the C-box
Red Offense Punishments
Red offenses are punished severely and are the rarest of the punishments doled out. These are permanent bans on all of your forum accounts, and permanently ban you from the C-Box as well.
